Not sure which payment type suits you best? Here’s a quick guide to help you choose the right one for what you need.
Faster Payments – GBP to UK only. Ideal for sending money quickly within the UK, usually processed in minutes. There is no payment request form for this. Faster payments can only be initiated via eQ/online banking/telephone banking/in branch via chip and pin (limits apply).
CHAPS (Clearing House Automated Payment System) – GBP to UK only. Usually a same day transaction. Can only be sent to sort codes enabled to receive CHAPS. Can be requested using the ‘sending a CHAPS payment’ template.
Bank of England CHAPS POP codes – The Bank of England have made it a mandatory requirement for a Purpose of Payment code to be quoted on all CHAPS payments related to property transactions. From November 2027 (subject to change), it will be a mandatory requirement for all CHAPS payments. Here is a link to the codes to select from to include in your payment:

SEPA (Single Euro Payments Area) – Suitable for sending euros within the EU and EEA countries, typically within one business day. Can only be sent to bank BIC codes that are part of the SEPA scheme.
SWIFT – Used for international payments in various currencies. Can be requested using the ‘sending a payment abroad’ template.
