Philip Brewster

Chairman

Philip had a c. 22 year career with RBC retiring from his executive role in June 2004. Philip's last executive position with RBC was based in Jersey. He was appointed Regional Head for Private Banking covering the UK (on/offshore), Chairman of RBC Investments Ltd, Managing Director of RBC CI Ltd and a Director of RBC Amsterdam B.V. In addition to regional responsibility for the British Isles, the mandate included the Private Banking business in Asia. 

Philip trained as a stockbroker before transitioning those skills to operate in the Money Markets; CME, Chicago and LIFFE, London. Philip's career at RBC encompassed establishing and running major treasury operations in Tokyo and New York, overseeing US corporate and Investment banking businesses prior to being appointed as the General Manager for the Asia/Pacific region based in Singapore.

Bruce Cannon

Non-Executive Director

Bruce was appointed as a Non-Executive Director in January 2020. Bruce is Chair of the RBS International and RBSI Holdings Board Risk Committees.

Bruce is a highly experienced banker with over 40 years’ experience spanning five continents. In his later career he held several senior risk management roles with HSBC, including Regional Chief Risk Officer for Europe, and subsequently for Latin America. Prior to focusing on risk management, Bruce managed large trade finance businesses for HSBC in Asia and North America, preceded by four years in the group internal audit function based in Hong Kong.

Christine Ashton

Non-Executive Director

Christine was appointed as a Non-Executive Director in September 2020 and is Chair of the RBS International Holdings Remuneration Committee.

Christine is the Chief Information Officer for UKRI. As a Fellow of BCS (The Chartered Institute for IT), Christine is Vice-Chair of its most senior technical group, FTAG, and sits on the DIGIT Lab Advisory Board, helping the BCS deliver its mission of ‘Making IT good for Society’.  

As the former CIO and CISO for SUSE, Christine digitally enabled business and product infrastructure post-acquisition and IPO. Previously, Christine was the CEO of Cogventive, delivering advisory and transformation capability to boards, CEOs, consultancies, and global private equity transactions. Before Cogventive, Christine was ‘CIO in residence’ at SAP, working with C-Suite Executives to deliver strategic impact from emerging intelligent technology. As Senior Vice President of Technology at Thomson Reuters Corp., Christine delivered sustainable strategic capability, enabling the business to scale, innovate new products, integrate acquisitions, and plan for significant divestments. 

Before SAP and Thomson Reuters, Christine held global roles in companies scaling and undergoing business change, including Bp plc., BG Group (now part of RDS), Transport for London, United Utilities and Associated Octel.  

Christine has previously held INED roles at Pay.UK where she was Chair of the New Payment Architecture committee, and the H.M. Home Office, focused on the UK Passport Agency.

Aaron Le Cornu

Non-Executive Director

Aaron was appointed as a Non-Executive Director on 17 April 2023. Aaron is Chair of the RBS International and RBSI Holdings Audit Committees. 

Aaron is an experienced finance professional with over 30 years working in banking, trust administration, consultancy and accountancy.  Aaron was Chief Operating Officer for the law firm, Ogier and was part of the team which led the management buyout of the Ogier fiduciary services business (subsequently renamed Elian and ultimately bought by Intertrust). Prior to that, Aaron held a number of senior positions within HSBC London, and latterly as Deputy CEO of HSBC International (Jersey).

Aaron is a Chartered Accountant having qualified with Arthur Andersen in London. Aaron is a Non-Executive Director of Digital 9 Infrastructure plc and Chairman of Abrdn Capital Offshore Strategy Fund.  

Carinne Withey

Non-Executive Director

Carinne was appointed as a Non-Executive Director on 21 July 2023. 

Carinne is an experienced professional with over 25 years working in asset management, sales and trading, corporate governance and risk management. Carinne is currently the senior independent advisor to the Board of Hayfin Capital Management and Chair of the Audit, Risk and Diversity and Inclusion Committees. 

Until 2022, Carinne was an Independent Non-Executive Director on the Board of Goldman Sachs Asset Management International, where she was Chair of the Risk Committee and a member of the Remuneration Committee. Carinne was also an Independent Non-Executive Director on the Board of Liquidnet Europe Limited, as well as Chair of the Risk and Audit Committees. 

Carinne completed an International Clerkship with Baker & McKenzie before joining Goldman Sachs International, rising to Managing Director, Head of EMEA Securities Division Compliance. 

A French and British dual national, Carinne holds a LLB Bachelor of Laws and a Maitrise de Droit from King’s College, London and Pantheon-Sorbonne, Paris, both with starred First Class Honours. Carinne achieved a Distinction in Legal Practice from the College of Law, London. 

Oliver Holbourn

Chief Executive Officer

Oliver is currently Chief Executive Officer of RBS International.

Oliver joined the NatWest Group in September 2018 as Director of Strategy and Ventures and held responsibility for Group Strategy, Sustainability, Economics, Ventures, and Corporate Development.

Prior to joining the Group, Oliver worked at UK Financial Investments (UKFI) where he was latterly CEO, with responsibility for managing the government’s shareholdings in the NatWest Group, Lloyds Banking Group, and UK Asset Resolution.

Oliver worked at Bank of America Merrill Lynch for nearly 14 years before joining UKFI, where he undertook various roles including head of equity syndicate for Europe and head of UK equity capital markets origination.

Oliver holds a BA, Jurisprudence from the University of Oxford.

Robert Horrocks

Chief Financial Officer

Rob is Chief Financial Officer of RBS International.

Since joining the NatWest Group in 1999, Rob has held a variety of senior leadership finance positions across a number of functions including Services & Functions, NWG Treasury and NatWest Markets.

Rob has international leadership experience and was European Network CFO for the Europe, Middle East and Africa Commercial and Institutional Banking business as well 2 years working in Paris leading the local Finance team.

Rob holds a BA (Honours) in Music from the University of Bristol. Robert holds a Diploma in Treasury Management (AMCT) and certification from the Associates of Cost and Management Accountants (ACMA). Outside of work, Rob’s passion is classical music.
