1. Introduction

This document should be used to determine if our services are right for you. Our permitted business is arranging non-investment insurance.

2. Who provides your insurance services?

We provide insurance services from:

  • Your Home and or contents Insurance is underwritten and provided by UK Insurance Limited (UKI).
  • Your Travel Insurance is underwritten and provided by UKI in respect to Accident and Sickness protection and Direct Line Life Insurance Company in respect to Life cover.
  • Purchase Protection, Car Rental Loss Damage Waiver and Supplementary Liability Insurance cover is provided by White Horse Insurance Ireland Limited.
  • UK Insurance Limited – Registered and Head Office: The Wharf, Neville Street, Leeds, LS1 4AZ. Registered in England No 1179980.
  • Direct Line Life Insurance Company Limited – Registered Office: 3 Edridge Road, Croydon, Surrey. CR9 1AG. Registered in England No 2199286.
  • White Horse Insurance Ireland Limited – Registered Office: 14 Clyde Road, Ballsbridge, Dublin 4, Republic of Ireland. Registered in Republic of Ireland No 306045.

3. Which service will we provide you with?

You will not receive advice or recommendations from us for any type of non-investment insurance contract. We may ask some questions to narrow down the selection of products that we will provide details on. You will then need to make your own choice about how to proceed.

4. What will you have to pay us for our services?

Home and Contents Insurance

No fee. You will receive a quotation that will tell you about any other fees relating to any particular insurance policy.

Royalties International

There is a £150 annual fee for this account.

Royalties Cheque

There is a £12 monthly subscription fee for this account.

5. Who regulates us?

The Royal Bank of Scotland International Limited (RBS International) is regulated by the Jersey Financial Services Commission. Regulated by the Guernsey Financial Services Commission and licensed under the Banking Supervision (Bailiwick of Guernsey) Law, 1994, as amended, the Insurance Managers and Insurance Intermediaries (Bailiwick of Guernsey) Law, 2002, and the Protection of Investors (Bailiwick of Guernsey) Law, 1987, as amended. Licensed by the Financial Supervision Commission of the Isle of Man and registered with the Insurance and Pensions Authority in respect of general business.

UKI and Direct Line Life Insurance Company Limited are authorised and regulated by the UK Financial Services Authority. The Financial Services Authority website which includes a register of all regulated firms can be visited at www.fsa.gov.uk, of the Financial Services Authority can be contacted on 0845 606 1234.

White Horse Insurance Ireland Limited is regulated by the Irish Financial Services Regulatory Authority (IFSRA). Claims should be sent to Strategic Claims Management Limited, PO Box 36400, London, EC3N 2AS.The Financial Service Authority registration number for UKI is 202810 and Direct Line Life is 170956.

6. Ownership

RBS International, UKI and Direct Line Life Insurance Company Limited are connected companies, as they are all members of The Royal Bank of Scotland Group.

7. What to do if you have a complaint

RBS International

If you are not satisfied with the services offered by RBS International, we have a complaints procedure that you can use. A leaflet, giving details of the procedure, is available by writing to Customer Services Unit, Offshore Financial Services, 1st Floor, 2 Athol Street, Douglas, Isle of Man, IM99 1AN

UKI/Direct Line

If you have any concerns about the insurance policy you have or the service that you receive from your insurance company you should contact the insurance company concerned as detailed above. If you remain dissatisfied you may refer your complaint to the Financial Ombudsman Service, South Quay Plaza, 183 Marsh Wall, London, E14 9SR or telephone 0845 080 1800. Your legal rights are not affected by following this procedure. Please note that the Financial Services Ombudsman Service will normally only consider a complaint once the insurer has issued a final decision.

White Horse

If you have any concerns about the insurance policy you have or the service that you receive from your insurance company you should contact the insurance company concerned as detailed above. If you remain dissatisfied you may refer your complaint to IRISH FINANCIAL SERVICES REGULATORY AUTHORITY (IFSRA) PO Box 9138, College Green, Dublin 2, Ireland. Telephone + 353 (0) 1410 4000.

As White Horse Insurance Ireland Limited operates from outside the UK you will not have redress with the Financial Ombudsman Service with respect to disputes with the insurer. A copy of our complaints procedure leaflet is available on request. Your legal rights are not affected by following this procedure.

8. Are we covered by the Financial Services Compensation Scheme (FSCS)?

UKI/Direct Line & White Horse Insurance Ireland Limited are covered by the FSCS. You may be entitled to compensation from the scheme if they cannot meet their obligations. This depends on the type of business and the circumstances of the claim. Under the Financial Services and Markets Act 2000, should the company be unable to meet all its liabilities to policyholders, compensation may be available. Insurance advising and arranging is covered for 90% of the claim, without any upper limit. For compulsory classes of insurance, advising and arranging is covered for 100% of the claim, without any upper limit. Information can be obtained on request, or by visiting the Financial Services Compensation Scheme www.fscs.org.uk.

Important Information for UK residents

RBS International is not an Authorised Person subject to the rules and regulations made under the UK Financial Services & Markets Act 2000, and therefore deposits made with branches, all of which are outside the UK, are not protected by those rules and regulations covered by the UK Financial Services Compensation Scheme. As at 31 December 2009, RBS International's paid-up capital and reserves exceeded £1,325 million. UK resident depositors may be subject to declaration and taxation of resulting income.
